NEW ALBUM IN STORES APRIL 15th; FOLLOWS-UP WORLDWIDE 10 MILLION-SELLING, MULTI-GRAMMY WINNING THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI
Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MC². The 11th studio album of her career, E=MC² is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah's worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts.
The first single from E=MC² is "Touch My Body," written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart, and The-Dream, hit radio stations worldwide on February 12th. The video for "Touch My Body" was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner - Internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead. In addition to C. "Tricky" Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MC² will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser. E=MC² is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio "LA" Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.
The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan's biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

And The Best Original Song Oscar Nominees Are...
February 21, 2008, Chuck Crisafulli and Gary Graff
With the 13-week writers' strike settled and the Academy Awards ceremony set to go on in the usual star-studded fashion, songwriting will be honored at the Feb. 24 event in the best original song category. Three of this year's five nominees are culled from Walt Disney's "Enchanted," but "Falling Slowly" from the surprise hit "Once" -- which was the tenth best-selling soundtrack of 2007 -- and "Raise It Up" from the film "August Rush" have just as much of a chance at earning the Oscar. Billboard.com takes a look at -- and listens to -- the 2008 nominees. NOMINATED SONG: "Falling Slowly"FILM: "Once" (Fox Searchlight) ARTIST(S): Music and Lyric by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova SOUNDTRACK CHART PEAK: No. 2 on Top Soundtracks chart; No. 27 on the Billboard 200 SOUNDTRACK COPIES SOLD: 363,000 (Sales through the week ending Feb. 17, 2008 according to Nielsen SoundScan)

Beyonce Starring In Chess Records Film !!!

February 20, 2008, 10:10 AM ET
Leslie Simmons, The Hollywood Reporter
Beyonce Knowles is adding "executive producer" to her resume. The 10-time Grammy winner has signed on to executive produce and star in Darnell Martin's "Cadillac Records" for Sony BMG Films.
Knowles will play Etta James in the 1950s period film about the Chicago record company Chess Records; its founder, Leonard Chess; and the turbulent lives of some of the label's legends, who included Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf and Chuck Berry.
Martin ("Their Eyes Were Watching God") penned the screenplay. Sony BMG's Andrew Lack and Sofia Sondervan are producing for the 3-year-old specialty label.
Knowles joins a cast that includes Adrien Brody (Chess), Jeffrey Wright (Waters), Cedric the Entertainer (Willie Dixon) and Columbus Short (Little Walter). Emmanuelle Chriqui and Tammy Blanchard co-star.
Music for the film is being produced by Steve Jordan ("Cars," "The Sopranos"). Knowles will record four songs for the soundtrack, which will be released through Music World Entertainment and Columbia Records.
The singer/actress will donate a portion of her fees for the film to recovering addicts through her family's charity, the Survivor Foundation, according to her reps.
Knowles ("Austin Powers in Goldmember") earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Deena Jones in 2006's "Dreamgirls" and a 2008 Grammy nomination for best compilation soundtrack album for the film. She also was nominated for the record of the year Grammy this year for her song "Irreplaceable."

Flo Rida Makes It Nine Straight Atop Hot 100 !!!

February 21, 2008, 10:30 AM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Flo Rida's "Low" begins a ninth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, continuing to stave off challenges from Chris Brown's "With You" and Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music," which hold at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
Alicia Keys' "No One" sticks at No. 4 but is the chart's top digital gainer. Sara Bareilles' "Love Song" inches up 6-5, trading places with Timbaland's "Apologize" featuring OneRepublic. Snoop Dogg's "Sensual Seduction" is up 8-7 to reach a new Hot 100 peak, and Sean Kingston's "Take You There" jumps 9-8.
Buckcherry's "Sorry" rises 10-9, and "Independent" by Webbie, Lil' Phat & Lil' Boosie moves into the top 10 13-10, the first top 10 hit for any of the artists.
The Hot 100's top debut comes from Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" at No. 57. The track ranks even higher on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, where it rockets 78-20.
Back on the Hot 100, a live duet from Celine Dion and Josh Groban on "The Prayer" is new at No. 70. The track is drawn from Dion's Feb. 15 CBS special and is the top debut on Hot Digital Songs with 38,000 downloads.
Grammy queen Amy Winehouse re-enters the Hot 100 with "You Know I'm No Good" featuring Ghostface Killah at No. 77. The cut, which peaked at No. 78 in March 2007, sold 28,000 downloads and has now been re-serviced to top 40 radio.
Keyshia Cole's "I Remember" is No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a second week. The top debut comes from Birdman's "100 Million" featuring Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne at No. 77.
On Hot Country Songs, Rodney Atkins scores his fourth consecutive No. 1 with "Cleaning This Gun (Come on in Boy)." Atkins' No. 1 run is the format's second-best active streak, trailing only the six straight chart champs in the past two years by Brad Paisley, whose "Letter to Me" (3-1) gets jumped by "Gun."
The Foo Fighters return to No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart with "Long Road To Ruin," on the heels of a record-breaking pole position run from earlier single "The Pretender." Puddle Of Mudd's "Psycho" is No. 1 on Mainstream Rock for a second week.

REVIEW : Simple Plan's Simple Plan Album !!!
Simple Plan
SIMPLE PLAN
Producer(s): variousLabel: Lava/Atlantic
At first glance, Simple Plan's teaming here with A-list producers Max Martin and Nate "Danja" Hills appears to be a move born from desperation: a last-ditch effort to compete with the younger, prettier dance-pop stars more capable of keeping up with the times than a rusty old pop-punk band. (That's not a new role for Danja, whom Duran Duran hired last year to perform the same miracle.) Actually, this is what the move appears to be upon further examination, too. Yet to its credit, Simple Plan is a shameless little heatseeker, which isn't much of a musical problem. Provided you're after a good time, several cuts make excellent use of keyboard bleeps and drum-machine beats. Nothing on "Simple Plan" sounds like the work of a band in a room, but aren't there plenty of those to go around?—Mikael Wood

Winehouse, West Win Big At 50th Annual Grammys !!!

February 11, 2008, 12:00 AM ETA
Billboard staff report
Alicia Keys "dueted" with a vintage performance by Frank Sinatra of "Learnin' the Blues" to kick off the 50th annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but the real magic came from leading nominees Amy Winehouse and Kanye West.
Winehouse led the field with five wins, while West scored four. But both were shut out of the album of the year Grammy, which unexpectedly went to Herbie Hancock's Joni Mitchell covers album, "River: The Joni Letters," in the biggest upset of the night.
Winehouse, who was nominated for six Grammys, won best new artist and song of the year for "Rehab." The artist's performance via satellite from London was the most anticipated of the evening, and she did not disappoint, belting out "You Know I'm No Good" and "Rehab" in her trademark beehive hairdo and high heels.
Immediately afterward, she won record of the year for "Rehab," breaking down in tears as she was mobbed by members of her backing band and her family.
Winehouse has been plagued by substance abuse issues in recent weeks, for which she entered rehab. Her visa to attend the Grammys in person was initially denied by the American embassy in London, who reversed their decision late last week, but not in time for Winehouse to make it to Los Angeles.
West, who led the field with eight nominations, won four Grammys, including best rap album for "Graduation." "A lot of people said hip-hop is dead," he said. "The art form wasn't popping like that anymore. I wanted to cross the genres and show people we can still express ourselves with something fresh and new."
Music's biggest night got underway as Keys sang and played piano along with the performance by Sinatra, who appeared in black and white on a video screen, a pairing reminiscent of Natalie Cole's "duet" with her late father, Nat King Cole. "Here's to the next 50 years," Keys told the crowd afterward, introducing a performance of "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.
Within minutes, Keys was back on stage to accept the best female R&B performance Grammy for "No One" from Prince. The song won best R&B song during the pre-telecast. Other multiple winners included Bruce Springsteen and the Clark Sisters with three, and Carrie Underwood and Justin Timberlake with two.
An early highlight was a reunion performance by pop/funk outfit the Time, who performed their 1984 hit "Jungle Love." The group was then joined by Rihanna for a medley of her pop smashes "Umbrella" and "Don't Stop the Music." "Umbrella," which features Jay-Z, took home the best rap/sung collaboration Grammy, Rihanna's first.
West performed "Stronger" with help from Daft Punk, who he samples in the track, and then shifted into a heartfelt, sung tribute to his mother Donda, who died suddenly last fall. Tina Turner and Beyonce teamed for a glitzy segment, culminating in a duet on "Proud Mary," while the Foo Fighters were accompanied by the fan-voted My Grammy Moment contest winner, violinist Ann Marie Calhoun, on "The Pretender."
The Foos then won best rock album for "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace," which features "The Pretender." "This doesn't get old. You know that, right?," said frontman Dave Grohl as he accepted.
The Beatles' "Love," which served as the soundtrack to a Cirque du Soleil production in Las Vegas, won best compilation soundtrack album for motion picture, television or other visual media. The award was accepted by surviving Beatle Ringo Starr and original Beatles engineer Sir George Martin, who created the "Love" music with his son Giles.
Starr and Eurythmics principal Dave Stewart bestowed the best country album Grammy to Vince Gill's "These Days," a four-disc project which is also nominated for album of the year. "I just had an award given to me by a Beatle! Have you had that happen to you yet, Kanye?," Gill joked.
Burt Bacharach, the Band, Cab Calloway, Doris Day, Itzhak Perlman, Max Roach and Earl Scruggs all received Lifetime Achievement Grammys. For live blogging from the Grammy Red Carpet, visit Billboard's Mobile Beat blog

Mariah's New 'Body' Of Work Due April 15
February 12, 2008, 11:00 AM ET
Katie Hasty, N.Y.
Mariah Carey has dubbed her next effort "E=MC²," and will release it April 15 via Island/Def Jam. The R&B-leaning first single "Touch My Body" will hit U.S. radio outlets on Feb. 12.
As first tipped here last month, the set also features producers Jermaine Dupri and will.i.am, plus DJ Toomp, Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser. Other collaborators include hit-maker T-Pain and Damian Marley.
"It's kind of strange but I heard a lot of her records and it sound like the album is better than the last album," Dupri recently told Billboard.
Other tracks expected to appear on the album include "Migrate," "Love Story," "Lovin' You Long Time" and "OOC."
"E=MC ²," comes three years after Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi," which has sold 5.8 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and earned three Grammys.
Can't wait no more for her new album~!!!

Starbucks Entertainment/ ConcordProducers: Walter Afanasieff, Kenny GGenre: LATIN
Kenny G's got a love jones going. On his Starbucks debut, the saxophonist cooks up a set of samba, bossa nova and salsa tunes that range from a fluid version of the staple "Besame Mucho" to eight originals co-written with co-producer Walter Afanasieff. Focusing on one genre, and an ethnic one at that, works to G's advantage; backed by a stellar cast of musicians that includes bassist Nathan East and Weather Report drummer Alex Acuña (with Afanasieff on piano), he coaxes a richer and more muscular tone from his instrument. "Sax-O-Loco" and "Salsa Kenny," which bookend the 12-track set, take a more upbeat tone, while the vocal numbers—"Mirame Bailar" with Barbara Muñoz and "Es Hor de Decir" with Camila—provide welcome counterpoints to G's own melodic excursion. G doesn't discard the light touch he's known for, but there's a headier sense of ambition on "Rhythm and Romance" that makes us hope he doesn't get his heart broken anytime soon.—GG

He's Back!!! Michael Jackson's Triller : 25th Anniversary Edition Review !!!
Thriller: 25th Anniversary Edition
MICHAEL JACKSON
Producer(s): Quincy JonesGenre: VITAL REISSUESLabel: Epic/Legacy
The world's best-selling album gets its second reissue in seven years, complete with the usual trimmings of remastering and remixing, but sadly the latter portion is like a virtual handbook on contemporary remix clichés. Most personnel involved here are too enamored of the source material—and why wouldn't they be?—to do anything terribly dramatic to it. But it's unclear why listeners would rather hear the vocals of guests like Akon, Fergie and Will.i.am rather than Jackson's. Still, there's something dryly hypnotic about Kanye West's slight beat-tweaking of "Billie Jean," and it's nice to have the "Thriller" videos and Jackson's famed moonwalk from the "Motown 25" special on the bonus DVD. Bottom line though: We'd be much more interested in new music from Jackson than yet another iteration of an all-time classic. —Jeff Vrabel

OST.Enchanted (Music From The Motion Picture)
Even if you fight it, it’s tough not to enjoy Disney’s “Enchanted”. It is a cuddly movie, with peppy Disney songs and somewhat satirical humor about cartoon antics in the “real” world. From an “album” perspective, unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of original songs — just the six. The other tracks are actual soundtrack music from the movie. Nevertheless, if you love and it want it, you can have it. Oh, also, I wasn’t able to find anywhere to listen to the album for free without purchasing it. Must be a Disney thing.
